Sometimes Creative Work Feels Like This…

You spend a bit of time out in the open air, and it belongs to you: wide open spaces of creativity and experiments. No responsibilities or destination, no demands.

And then everything rolls in with little warning, and you become overwhelmed at the majesty and insistence and speed of it all. And all you can do is watch and experience the clouds and wind and rain, and weather the experience.

But you came here for the experience, so embrace it. Look at the individual raindrops that make up the big picture. Marvel at the speed and scale of it. It is darker or is that just nuance from a different angle? Rise above it and there’s sun.

And as it passes you are left with your own options to dwell on: is it all the mud, or newly fed flowers springing up? What did you get from it?

And you look for the rain to come again.

P.S. Enjoy the raindrops! Video info: From sunny to cloudy in seconds as a timelapse, actually about 70 minutes here in pictures. Shot north of Prescott, Arizona on Thanksgiving 2019 with a GoPro 4 in waterproof case as still images 5 seconds apart, with distortion correction and small color/contrast adjustments done in GoPro Studio.

The lead picture was taken on the way up st Sunset Point, and edited with Snapseed on my  Samsung Note 8 for more dramatic effect. Disappointed I wasn’t there the next day for the snow!
